Karen Troop is the studio's Ballet instructor.  Her love of dancing began nearly as soon as she was able to walk. At the age of four she began taking ballet lessons at Rozanne-Zimmerman Ballet Center.

That was over 40 years ago!  Karen’s passion and love of dance is still as strong as ever. She continues to take classes at Moorpark college and several local studios.  Then, about three years ago, just before becoming a grandmother, she decided to buy a new pair of point shoes. It was as if a whole new door had opened and she loved it.

Karen was trained primarily in the Balanchine style of ballet, under the direction of Sheila Rozanne and also has an extensive background in Ceccetti, having trained with the well known Don Hewitt. During her career, she has danced with many of the finest instructors in the country, as well as having performed in numerous productions.

Over the years, Karen has taught at several dance studios throughout Simi Valley, San Fernando Valley, the Learning Tree and at Moorpark College. She is currently back teaching at Rozanne Zimmerman Ballet Center and has been there for the last 10 years. Her students range in age from five to fifteen.  “It’s great to get them when they are young and it’s extraordinary to have the privilege to be with them when they get their first pair of point shoes”, she says.  Karen also teaches adult classes which are always well attended. “Adults love to dance as much as children; they just like to do a lot more stretching in between!”

Teaching is truly Karen’s passion.  We are honored to have her on staff at The Passion Studio.
